Lake Michigan Road Trip: Indiana Dunes

Lake Michigan is beautiful and scenic, and if you live in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, or Wisconsin, you don't have to go far to enjoy it's beautiful beaches. This summer my family went on a road trip around Lake Michigan, and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is our first stop. Its landscape is so different from the rest of Indiana, which is mostly flat agricultural land. There is hiking and soft sandy beaches. Though we went on a no-swim day, there's still a lot to do. The dunes provide great challenging hikes. There are five houses that were featured in the World's Fair in Chicago that you can look at from the outside.

If you want to get away from the crowds at the main beach, I would go over and hike the Mount Baldy trail. It's a very easy half-mile hike to go to the beach, and there's no one there.
